"Shelter to Stage: Overcoming Same-Sex Discrimination"

"Shelter to Stage: Overcoming Same-Sex Discrimination"

Georgette Bleau|
Boomy, 29. Versatile, Female artist out of the north side of Houston. Raised up mostly in Acres Homes with my aunt. The reason I call myself the “TC Jester Baby”. My Mom always worked but when I was with her, I was very sheltered indoors in a strict Christian home. I’ve always been a laid back and quiet person. As a kid I grew up shy and spoiled with what they could afford, but once I got older things changed. I was on my own. I had to overcome the struggles of being broke, bad jobs, experiencing homelessness, & all around just feeling alone, plus being judged based on my sexuality.  Music has been my outlet since 14 in 7th grade. That’s when I first began writing verses, finding beats on YouTube and making remixes. Sophomore year in high school is when I started to take it serious. 2 friends and I, formed a group by the name “3’Live” but as time past and we grew up and graduated, of course separation and LIFE in general happened. For years I kept going tho. Just recently in 2022 I started putting myself out there more & performing actual shows to put a face to my music and gaining a real face to face audience. My everyday motivation is to never go back to the struggle I found myself in & to make my biggest angels proud, my aunt & my dad. Also, to keep going hard in spirit of my mother who’s battling dementia. My musical talents came from her. I was literally the drums to her piano. My upbringing and this journey so far is why you hear me put so much of that old soul into most of my music. I don’t just rap. I write real life stories, documenting & expressing feelings from my past life, struggles, old relationships, & etc. You won’t hear me rapping about things that aren’t factual / things I don’t have or haven’t done. I strive to be the true definition of a REAL artist.
